The Dutch photographer Paul Beiboer, born in Wamena, West Papua, is known for his photographic documentation of Asia. After having made several trips to the Far East over the past 20 years, he lived in Hong Kong, Jakarta, Bangkok, Sydney, London and now resides in New York. Asia became for him a spring of inspiration and a place where he could fulfill his life's passion. His father, a medical doctor in West Papua, Indonesia had already begun sharing his own enthusiasm for photography with his sons. Paul was attracted early by this artistic expression. At age twelve, he bought his first camera and has never stopped taking pictures.

Over the years, Paul has developed a distinctive creative style, and is best known for his unique talent of capturing people and their culture in their natural surroundings. His preferred medium is the power of black and white, which best portrays to him, moods and expressions encouraging the viewer's imagination. Most of Paul's images are made with medium format cameras (Hasselblad 6x6 and Mamiya 645). His photographs have been used in travel magazines, books, annual reports and other commercial publications.
